The Almighties News
MS. F - a former downtrodden housewife with anger issues, MASON - a mercenary with psychotic tendencies, NITE FANG - a cocky British punk, MAXI-TRON an armored egomaniac, and... STEFANOS...a guy who runs a takeout.
The Almighties #1 has just hit Comixology and picked up this review at IGN: "For some this may be comedic gold while for others this could be seen as borderline offensive." For me, in my unbiased opinion, it's more of the former ;) but you can decide for yourself if you pick it up at Comixology here. :)
One of my favorite quotes on The Almighties - for Almighties Origins - is “Johnson and Gagnon are having a great time and a lot of fun making this comic and it really shows!” Blog the Blummin’ Doors Off. I can attest to this, and if you'd like to see whether the book's for you before taking the plunge into issue #1, the FREE Almighties Origins is still available, and you can get it at Drive-Thru Comics here. :)
This previews The Almighties #0, which comes out later this year, and while co-creator/co-writer Mike Gagnon, artist Eleonora Kortsarz and I are working on an Almighties mini-series, I'm currently looking into comics to potentially do a one-shot crossover book with, to follow The Almighties #0.
If you wanna keep up on Almighties News & Previews, you can find it all at our Facebook Group here. :)

Almighties Origins and Reloaded now at over 1,000 downloads!
"The Almighties are definitely one of the strangest superhero teams out there." capelesscrusader.org
As a huge fan of 'The World's Strangest Superheroes,' the Doom Patrol, this line brought a smile to my face, and I was also happy to learn today that the new Doom Patrol will be making their DC New 52 debut in tomorrow's Justice League #30 (with their chief Niles Caulder now apparently wheelchair-free and resembling a young Noel Edmonds); something I've been hanging out for since they teased it in Justice League #24. I really enjoyed writer Geoff Johns' previous take on the team in Teen Titans, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he brings to this new incarnation.
[UPDATED 5/21/14:] Well it turns out the panel below was it for the new DP in Justice League #30, so we're gonna have to wait a bit longer to see more of them. In the meantime, there's this.
Grant Morrison and Richard Case's out-there work on Doom Patrol, back in the day, remains one of my favorite comic runs ever, and is the biggest inspiration for my work; a particular influence on Cabra Cini: Voodoo Junkie Hitwoman, but also to be found in Geek-Girl and The Almighties.
Mike Gagnon and I are currently working on an Almighties mini-series and the “Johnson and Gagnon are having a lot of fun making this comic and it really shows” quote from Blog the Blummin’ Doors Off's review of The Almighties #1 is certainly still the case. I'm really enjoying working on the comedic adventures of former downtrodden housewife with anger issues, MS. F; mercenary with psychotic tendencies, Mason; cocky British punk/werewolf, Nite Fang; armored egomaniac Maxi-Tron; and kebab shop owner Stefanos; as well as their new teammate-to-be.
Still in its very early stages, I can't give much away about the mini, but you can find a little of it teased at The Almighties Facebook Group. In the meantime, we're also finishing putting things together for the team's next outing, The Almighties #0, which The Almighties Recharged Reloaded Reduxed previews; and I was pleased to hear that and Origins have passed the 1,000 downloads mark. If you haven't got your free digital copy yet, you can get it here. :)

ALMIGHTIES AMASS!
Nick Fury is currently assembling Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the Avengers movie – but what if a more questionable character put together his own skewed take on the world’s greatest super-team…or just threw together whoever was available?
Great effort and care has been put into assembling Fury’s crew, but when the threats are too pressing for that, the somewhat unhinged White Out – aided and abetted by his lobotomized butler Chives - hires Maxi-Tron, Ms. F, Mason, Nite Fang and…Stefanos. And a super-arrogant field leader, former-downtrodden-housewife with ‘issues,’ borderline-psychotic merc, self-centered punk and…a kebab shop owner join together to become our ‘ultimate defence.’
With comedic nods to all the big Marvel events of recent years – from Civil War to Fear Itself, 'The Avengers meet Family Guy via South Park' as The Almighties amass in their debut comic, where you can expect comedy, offbeat action and adventure!
Written by myself & Mike Gagnon, illustrated by Eleonora Kortsarz, Pablo Zambrano & D.C. White, The Almighties #1 is OUT NOW in $3.99 regular and Avenger-movie-poster parody Variant editions, and $1.99 Digital Edition! Published by Actuality Press, 32 pages, full color, and rated Teen+
(Right-click on images and Open in New Tab to enlarge)
Here's what the critics are saying about The Almighties...
"If you want a smile on your face, this is the book for you!" Wayne Hall, SciFi Pulse.
"Absolutely hilarious, a downright funny comic that mirrors the Avengers, just a slightly cracked mirror!" Billy Dunleavy, Comic Attack
"One of the funniest comics you'll ever read!" Glenn B. Fleming, Crikey!
"It had me laughing from start to finish. Go buy it now!" Rob the Wrecker, Comic Booked
(Right-click on images and Open in New Tab to enlarge)
You can check out a full review at Fanboy Comics, listen to myself and The Almighties' Mike Gagnon and Kris Johnson talking about the book on Kris's Bizarre Comicast, and see a new interview with Mike and I at World of Superheroes.
The Almighties #1 isn't available in comic shops now - you can get it in $3.99 regular and Avengers movie poster-parody Variant editions from this site in the UK here; in the US at www.indyplanet.com and www.thealmighties.com where you can also check out free-to-read Almighties Origins! And the $1.99 Digital Edition is available now at www.graphicly.com and www.wowio.com

Just in time for THAT movie - The Almighties!
The enigmatic White Out has put together a dysfunctional bunch of heroes to take down ‘threats to America’ - sending them on missions that have comedic nods to all the big Marvel events of recent years – from Civil War to Fear Itself. But these aren’t your momma’s super-heroes and things aren’t quite as they seem…
Here's the skinny from our Press Release... “The Almighties brings together creations from myself and co-scripter Mike Gagnon,” says the comic’s other writer Sam Johnson (creator of Geek-Girl and Cabra Cini: Voodoo Junkie Hitwoman). “But while that other super-team were the best that could be assembled, brought together to take on threats that no single hero could withstand – things are a bit more…offbeat here.”
Johnson continues, “The guy that hires them - White Out – is a little wacky, aided as he is by a lobotomized butler with a tray of Pimm’s – and he has a personal agenda. So there are factors at play in whom he’s amassed that don’t necessarily make for the most heroic of super-teams. For example, one of them – Nite Fang – whom Johnson & Gagnon bill as ‘our Hulk’ - is a cocky British punk/werewolf who’s here purely for the pay check; another - Mason - is a borderline-psycho merc, and another - Stefanos – billed as ‘our Wolverine’ - is seemingly just a guy that runs a kebab shop - armed with his donor kebab on a skewer!
Not all members of the team are total misfits, though, Johnson and Gagnon bill their field leader - Maxi-Tron - and female member Ms. F - as ‘our Iron Man and Ms. Marvel.’ But like those heroes, these two are also flawed. Only more so.
Johnson fills us in: “Maxi has Tony Stark’s ego dialed up to 11 and is more self-centered than it’s healthy to be when your life and the lives of your team-mates are on the line, and Ms. F has just broken free of her oppressive marriage and has anger issues coming out of that. Anger issues she’s gonna take out on crime!”
“This comic has been created by a talented group of creators who are also big comic book fans,” adds co-scripter Mike Gagnon. “It’s all done in good natured humor, and with all the dark and serious stories being told in comic books, I think this book is important because it reminds people that comics can be fun.”
With the motley crew amassed, you can expect offbeat action, adventure, comedy, testicular cancer, Nazi Robots, and plenty more – all illustrated by hot team of up-and-coming artists Eleonora Kortsarz, Pablo Zambrano and D.C. White - in The Almighties #1; out now in regular and Limited Avengers movie poster-parody Variant editions; 32 pages, full color, rated Teen+, $3.99 - published by Actuality Press and available to purchase at www.thealmighties.com where you can also check out free-to-read Almighties Origins!

The Almighties - Meet Mason!
[UPDATED 5.3.14:]
"Okay, we're done unless we can bend that 'No Killing' rule." Mason.
Here're some finished panels from The Almighties #1 and a page and pin-up from a Mason solo outing. What if a merc-for-hire with no conscience joined a sanctioned super-team? Mason is our wildcard.

A top secret wet works operative. Highly trained in black ops. Experienced in every form of combat and man-made hell. Previous identity erased from history. Molded by the U.S. government to be a monster and a killing machine. Now for hire. You don't #*^% with Mason.

Although it seem's this punk's trying to!? Who's got the stones to twist our merc's melon? Meet the fourth member of The Almighties here!
And you can join The Almighties Facebook Group for all Almighties News & Previews--and if you didn't catch the First Look at the book, and the rest of the team's members, you can check them out here!
